About us

When I decided to turn my hobby into a business, I was always going to add soap to my range at some point this year and I must admit, Covid-19 has hurried me up.

My whole ethos of Dee's Shed was, and still is, not to add any more plastic to our beautiful planet which is why my melt packaging is all biodegradable or reusable. Researching alternative packaging to plastic has really opened my eyes to the shocking amount of plastic containers that we use in our bathrooms and kitchen and the rows and rows of plastic bottles and containers that are on the shelves in our supermarkets. It's eye watering how much we continue to use in our homes and suppliers are slow to change and there are isn't much alternative.

I wanted to add soap bars to try and convince people to move away from the plastic pump bottles and go back to the bar at an affordable price for everyone.

It has taken a long time of researching and experimenting, but I have finally made a recipe that I really like, and hope you will too. My range of soaps have now been successfully cosmetically tested (little dance for joy) and will soon be ready to sell on the website. I can't wait, I'm really excited!!

In an attempt to convince you to try bars of soap; my unscented and uncoloured soap made from coconut oil, olive oil, rice bran oil and shea butter will be priced to be affordable for everyone. Covid-19 also made me want to add a soap with Tea Tree essential oil, which has anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and anti-fungal properties, and Sweet Orange essential oil which has antiseptic properties. This too will be priced to be affordable for everyone.

Again, as with my ethos of keeping it simple and natural, my soap has no artificial colours, preservatives or chemicals. The colours I use are all natural; orange peel, calendula petals, nettle powder, activated charcoal and pink and green French clay and scented with pure essential oils.

I really hope that I can convince some of you to change to bars, even if it makes you stop and think about the plastic you use in your home and try an alternative and make one change. That alone will contribute less plastic to the planet. We've all got to do our bit to keep this planet beautiful.
